Catharine Hinton (MSc, BWY) is a Yogini based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire known for her imaginative teaching of Traditional Yoga. Catharine teaches directly from personal experience and studies which reflect her own challenge of balancing the needs of every day working, living and family with the practice of Yoga.
Experience and Qualifications
Catharine began practising Yoga at an early age – attending her first class at age 16 and working from books borrowed from the local library. She continued Yoga practice through University where she studied Zoology – getting an excellent education in anatomy and physiology. In 2001 she began the British Wheel of Yoga teacher training course, and in 2003 made formal links with the Lonavla Yoga Institute in Pune, India.
Following completion of the BWY Diploma in 2006, Catharine has maintained regular CPD training and in addition gained personal fitness, mentoring and coaching qualifications.
Catharine has been practising for 23 years and teaching for 11 years.
Having had major surgery for Crohn’s Disease several times, Catharine has personal interest and experience of Yoga and recovery from surgery / injury. In addition Catharine is keen to work with individuals who wish to develop specific Yoga skills/overcome pain or problems on a one to one basis through private coaching.
